Fugitive Arrested, Meth Lab and Stolen Property Seized

As part of a month’s long criminal investigation, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant late Wednesday evening at a property between Riverton and Baxter Springs.

“There has been a lot of activity at this property and yesterday our office received information which led to the issuance of the search warrant,” stated Cherokee County Sheriff David Groves.

During the course of the search, detectives located a meth lab, two stolen vehicles, methamphetamine, and marijuana.

“In addition to the stolen property and narcotics, a suspect, who had an active felony warrant for his arrest out of Missouri for Resisting Arrest, was found by deputies hiding in the attic,” continued Sheriff Groves.

Arrested at the scene was 40-year-old Freddie Joe McAnally II, who was transported to the Cherokee County Jail on allegations of Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of Precursor Chemicals with Intent to Manufacture Methamphetamine, Two Counts of Felony Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Interference with Law Enforcement.  McAnally’s bond has been set at $72,500.00.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional arrests are anticipated.
