In mid-September, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a rural Galena residence after the home owner discovered multiple items, including power tools and electronics, had been stolen.

As part of an ongoing investigation into that crime, Sheriff’s Investigators executed a search warrant at a rural Baxter Springs home approximately 10:00 Saturday night.

During the course of the search, detectives recovered stolen property and also located and seized suspected methamphetamine and marijuana.

Arrested at the scene were:

Ross Eiland, 46, who is being held in the Cherokee County Jail in lieu of $8,000.00 bond on allegations of Possessing Stolen Property, Criminal Use of a Weapon, Possession of Meth and Possession of Marijuana.

Joel Wayne Moody, 37 is being held on $5,000.00 bond for suspicion of Possessing Meth, Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia.

Sheila Kay Lindsey, 58 is being held on $6,000.00 bond on allegations of Criminal Use of a Weapon, Possessing Meth, Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia.

“Nobody wants to return to their house to find their privacy has been violated and some thief has stolen their belongings,” stated Cherokee County Sheriff David Groves.

“I’m thankful the work being done regarding this ongoing case has not only allowed investigators to return stolen property to its rightful owner, but also has led to the seizure of drugs and weapons along with the arrest of several people who can now be held accountable for their alleged crimes,” concluded Sheriff Groves.
