A rural Columbus man is back in custody after investigators with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on his home Wednesday afternoon.

Glenn Jones II, age 43, is being held in the Cherokee County Jail on allegations of Aggravated Intimidation of a Witness, Possession of Methamphetamine, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Use of a Firearm, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Criminal Stalking.

“Earlier this week, our office began looking into allegations that Jones had been involved in making threats and the physical harming of a witness against him in another criminal case still awaiting trial,” stated Cherokee County Sheriff David Groves.

“During our investigation, information was also obtained indicating Jones had a firearm, which he cannot legally possess, along with narcotics at his residence northwest of Columbus.  As our deputies and detectives conducted a search of Jones’ property on Wednesday afternoon, they discovered and seized suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a gun,” concluded Sheriff Groves.

Jones' bond is currently set at $21,000.00.
