Just after 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1st, 2015, emergency personnel were dispatched to an injury crash in the area of Southeast 60th and Beasley Road in the Riverton, Kansas area.  The Cherokee County Ambulance Service transported Marcus Bunce, 26, to a Joplin Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

At approximately 11:00 p.m., authorities arrested 38 year-old Jeremy Eakes, of Riverton, and transported him to the Cherokee County Jail on allegations of Involuntary Manslaughter and Leaving the Scene of an Injury Crash.

Eakes remains in custody pending the filing of formal charges, in lieu of $20,000.00 bond.

The investigation remains ongoing at this time, and all suspects in criminal cases are considered innocent until proven guilty.
