The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a single-vehicle fatality crash.  Just after 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21st, emergency personnel were dispatched approximately one mile west of the U.S. Highway 166 / U.S. 69 Junction, near the area of Southwest 10th and Highway 166 in rural Cherokee County.

Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a 2015 Ford Fusion off the roadway, partially submerged in a creek.  The driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as 60 year-old Bruce Leroy Crawford III, of Victoria, Texas had been ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased.

Preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 166 when it crossed the centerline, left the roadway, struck a culvert, overturned and entered the creek.  The investigation is ongoing at this time.
