Edmond Wininger Sr.

The jury trial of Edmond “Ed” Wininger Sr., 56, of Galena concluded just before noon on Thursday at the Cherokee County Courthouse in Columbus. 

After hearing closing arguments by Cherokee County Attorney Nathan Coleman, the jury deliberated for approximately one hour, before finding Wininger guilty of aggravated indecent liberties with a child under the age of 14 and indecent liberties with a child 14 years or older. 

Those incidents occurred at Wininger’s rural Galena home in late 2010 and early 2011.

The conviction of aggravated indecent liberties with a child falls under Jessica’s Law, and may carry a 25 year to life sentence. 

The case was investigated by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
