New Warrant Feature Added To Sheriff's Website

01/13/2015

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office currently has nearly 500 outstanding arrest warrants on file that has been issued by the District Court over the course of the past 15-20 years.

Many of the warrants are for failing to appear on a traffic infraction cases or misdemeanor charges.

In some of the cases, the suspect may be incarcerated in another facility, while others may have moved from the immediate area and yet others, considering the length of time since the crime was allegedly committed, the suspect may be deceased.

In an effort to successfully clear those warrants and bring those cases to a conclusion, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office has added a new feature to their website, www.cherokeecountykssheriff.com.

As in the past, residents can still find fugitives under the “Most Wanted” section, which generally includes felony crimes, but now they can also find a list of outstanding misdemeanor warrants by clicking on the “warrants” tab on the left side of the screen.

If anyone has information regarding the whereabouts of anyone listed, they are asked to contact the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office at 620-429-3992 or their local law enforcement agency.

In addition to this new misdemeanor warrant feature, the Sheriff’s Office will begin a weekly “Featured Fugitive,” which will focus on a specific suspect from our “Most Wanted.”

As in the past, if residents would like to receive text notifications when someone is added to our “Most Wanted,” they can text WANTED to 888777 (standard text message rates may apply).
