Drug Take Back Event Yields Over 200 Pounds

09/29/2014

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office held its ninth Drug Take Back Event on Saturday, September 27th, 2014.

Sheriff’s deputies set up at three locations in Cherokee County and collected unused, expired and unwanted prescription drugs for proper disposal.

This program, which has been taking place twice a year, has been widely supported by the community and as a result of that support, an additional 221 pounds of prescription drugs were turned over to the DEA on Monday morning at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

Those are prescription drugs that won’t fall into the wrong hands, either due to abuse or accident, nor will it enter our waterways.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office appreciates the support of the community and enjoys being able to provide this much needed service.
