Sheriff's Office Raises Funds for Special Olympics

01/26/2014

This year, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is proud to be partnering with Kansas Special Olympics.

Special Olympics is an international organization that changes lives by promoting understanding, acceptance and inclusion between people with and without intellectual disabilities through year-round sports training.

To help fund those programs, twelve members of the Sheriff’s Office will be participating in the Polar Plunge on February 8th.

On that day, at noon, any team member who has reached a pre-determined fund raising goal will plunge into the swimming pool at Crimson Villas, 1904 South Rouse in Pittsburg.

Anyone who wants to help Kansas Special Olympics, and insure that the Sheriff’s Office Team plunges into the cold water, can make a tax deductible donation online by credit card at www.ksso.org (you can specify which team you want your contribution to count towards), mail donations to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office PO Box 479, Columbus, Kansas 66725, or drop them off at 915 East Country Road, Columbus, Kansas 66725.

The event is open to the public.
