Meth Lab Discovered in Early Morning Raid

Just before 7:30 a.m., on Sunday, January 13, 2013, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office along with the Southeast Kansas Drug Enforcement Task Force and the Kansas Highway Patrol Warrant Entry Team executed a search warrant at 4822 Southwest 130th, in rural, southwestern Cherokee County.

During the course of the search, investigators discovered chemicals in various stages of the methamphetamine manufacturing process in addition to drug paraphernalia items.

Rick Jones, 59, of the home, was arrested and transported to the Cherokee County Jail, where he is being held on allegations of Unlawfully Manufacturing Methamphetamine and Felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The execution of this search warrant is the result of an investigation which has been ongoing for the past 10 months.

Additional arrests related to this investigation are anticipated.

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
