Early Morning Accident Results in Fatality

At 2:43 a.m., on June 17, 2011, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a one vehicle accident just west of Northwest 70th on Scammon Road.
Deputies, along with Columbus Fire Rescue Personnel and Cherokee County Emergency Medical Services responded.
The driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle, 33 year old Charles J. Wilkins, of Oswego, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial investigation indicates that Mr. Wilkins was traveling west on Scammon Road, left the roadway and overcorrected, causing his vehicle to roll and him to be ejected.
