Two arrested at suspected meth lab

At approximately 9:30 a.m. on Friday, April 23rd, 2010, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Galena Police Department and the Southeast Kansas Drug Enforcement Task Force executed a search warrant at the Lakeview Apartment Complex, 505 Schermerhorn Road, Apartment 13, in Galena.

During the course of the search, investigators discovered components of a suspected methamphetamine lab, and chemicals in various stages of the manufacturing process.

Two residents of the apartment were taken into custody at the scene.

Suzette Wallace, 51, and 26 year-old Brian Smith were arrested and remain in the Cherokee County Jail.

They are being held on allegations of Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Felony Drug Paraphernalia, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Bond has been set for each in the amount of $50,000.00.

The seizure of this suspected meth lab, and the related arrests, are the result of an ongoing investigation.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office anticipates additional future arrests regarding this case.
