Four Children Taken Into Protective Custody Following Search

Just after 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2010, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, along with the Galena Police Department and the Southeast Kansas Drug Enforcement Task Force, executed a search warrant at 1111 Princeton Avenue, in Galena.

During the course of the search, investigators discovered what they believe to be Methamphetamine, Marijuana, and Drug Paraphernalia.

Two adults, James Buzzard, age 37, and Connie Sue Buzzard, 34, both of the home, were arrested and taken to the Cherokee County Jail.

In addition, four children, ages 5, 7, 8, and 16 were taken into protective custody.

While formal charges have not yet been filed, a Cherokee County Judge has signed an Order For Detention, and both, James and Connie Buzzard, are being held on allegations of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and 4 counts of Child Endangerment. 

Bond has been set at $25,000.00 each.

 

As in all cases, suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
