A Carthage Missouri man was handed down a prison sentence in Cherokee County District Court earlier today.

Johnny Green, age 38, was sentenced to 30 months imprisonment after pleading guilty in April to Possessing Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute and Felony Fleeing from Law Enforcement.

The charges stem from a January 2023 incident where Green attempted to flee law enforcement who were conducting a traffic stop on the vehicle he was driving.  During the course of the encounter, Green was found to be in possession of the methamphetamine.

The Judge ordered Green to be held in the Cherokee County Jail pending transfer to the Kansas Department of Corrections.

Green was prosecuted by the Office of Cherokee County Attorney Kurt Benecke.
