Pittsburg Woman Sentenced to Over 6 Years In Prison

The Cherokee County District Court sentenced a Pittsburg woman was sentenced to prison earlier this week.

Megan VonHemel, 41, was given an 80-month sentence after pleading guilty to Aggravated Battery, Abuse of a Child and Interfering with law enforcement

The charges were filed by the Cherokee County Attorney's Office in 2022, following an investigation into VonHemel's criminal conduct with a minor child.

VonHemel remains in the Cherokee County Jail, pending transfer to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
