Columbus Man Receives Prison Sentence

Steven D. Beaty, 44, of Columbus, received a nearly 5-year prison sentence recently.

The 57-month sentence was ordered on March 22, 2023, after Beaty pled guilty in November, 2022, to several felonies, including Possessing Methamphetamine in May, 2021 and again in March, 2022.  Beaty also pled guilty to violating the Kansas Offender Registration Act, which he is required to comply with after having been convicted of Manslaughter in March, 2000.

Beaty was held in the Cherokee County Jail since March, 2022 until being turned over to the Kansas Department of Corrections earlier this week.

Beaty's cases were prosecuted by the Cherokee County Attorney's Office.
