On May 8, 2026, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office responded to an armed domestic disturbance call in rural Weir, Kansas. Upon arrival, members of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office located Boyce Earl Nevills, Jr (56), along with a female at the residence. A firearm and a knife were seized as part of the investigation. Nevills was taken into custody as a result of the initial investigation for the following charges: • Attempted Murder (Domestic Violence) • Aggravated Assault (Domestic Violence) • Criminal Threat (Domestic Violence) • Felon in Possession of a Firearm

The investigation is on-going and Nevills is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
