Honoring the Backbone of America on Labor Day

The United States is a nation of strength and that strength is derived by the contributions, achievements and innovations of the American people.

As families prepare to celebrate Labor Day with cookouts, swim parties or a trip to the lake, it's important to remember the holiday is a tribute to the American workers who drive our economy, provide for our families and help ensure the success and well-being of our nation.

So many people within our community serve as the backbone of America.  Farmers, truck drivers, teachers, nurses, construction workers, utility workers, and those who sell goods and services in our local stores and restaurants are some of those we honor on Labor Day.

Law enforcement, emergency medical personnel and firefighters work around the clock in communities large and small to bring safety, comfort and help to others.  Courageous and selfless soldiers in the United States Military stand ready around the world prepared to keep our nation safe from those who wish evil upon us.

Whether you serve in one of the professions mentioned or contribute to the betterment of our community and nation in another way, this Labor Day, I say thank you!

Stay safe and God Bless,

Sheriff David Groves
