Veteran's Day

Earlier this week, we had the opportunity to go to the polls and elect those who will represent us on a local, state and national level. Regardless of party affiliation or your stance on the issues, eligible voters were able to cast their ballots in a safe way, and our freedom to do so has been defended for generations thanks to the courage and selflessness of our men and women in uniform.

On November 11, just as American’s have done each year since 1919, we will pay special tribute and honor to American Military Veteran’s.  Those living and those who have passed on.

I’m proud of our country and thankful for those who have served in order to insure America remains strong and free. I’m especially proud and thankful for two members of our team at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Sgt. Detective Travis Fields (currently deployed) and Deputy Nicholas Powell (soon to be deployed), who continue to serve our nation, along with serving our local community.

Those who serve do so because they believe our country -our people, ideals and principles - are worthy of fighting, and if necessary, dying for.

“Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13)

Please join me in thanking all of our Veteran’s, along with their families, for the sacrifices they have made on behalf of all of us!

Sheriff David Groves
