Three In Custody Following Baxter Springs Raid

Just after 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 13th, 2016, law enforcement with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and Baxter Springs Police Department executed a search warrant on a Baxter Springs home.

After investigators with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office were tipped off about suspected drug activity at 2026 East Avenue, they began their investigation and surveillance of the house, which resulted in the issuance of the warrant.

While searching the home, investigators discovered suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Three suspects were arrested at the scene and transported to the Cherokee County Jail.

Arrested were:

Amanda Novak, 36, of the home.  She is being held in lieu of $5,000.00 bond on allegations of Possession of Methamphetamine and Drug Paraphernalia

Christopher Gillis, 37, of the home. He is also being held on $5,000.00 bond on allegations of Possession of Methamphetamine and Drug Paraphernalia.

Ryan Smith, 27, of Baxter Springs is in custody on allegations of Possessing Methamphetamine, Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia.  His bond has been set at $ 7,000.00.

Formal charges are expected to be filed later this week.
