Jacoby Sammons Located and Arrested

08/20/2016

Jacoby Sammons, 19, of Neosho has been located and taken into custody after law enforcement officers searched for him throughout Friday afternoon and into the evening. Sammons was being sought in connection with a robbery investigation at the Downstream Casino Parking Lot earlier in the day.

Following the robbery, Sammons allegedly fled into a wooded area and officers with the Quapaw Tribal Marshal’s Office conducted surveillance on his 1999 Chevy Truck. When Sammons returned to his truck, he defied an officer who ordered him out of the vehicle, and nearly ran over the officer as he began to flee. The officer discharged his firearm, yet Sammons continued to flee.

Law enforcement officers from Southeast Kansas, Southwest Missouri and Northeast Oklahoma searched for Sammons, who arrived at a Southwest Missouri Hospital late Friday night to be treated for non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Sammons was released from medical care and transported to the Newton County Jail, where he is currently being held pending the filing of formal charges in Cherokee County, Kansas.
