Seatbelt Enforcement Campaign Kicks Off Feb. 23rd

02/20/2015

Between February 23rd and March 6th, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office will be joining other Kansas Law Enforcement Agencies on focusing our efforts towards seatbelt enforcement.

Too many teens, 34 last year alone, have died due to car crashes in Kansas.  Of those killed, 63% were not properly restrained.

As part of the S.A.F.E. (Seatbelts Are For Everyone) Program, student committees have been stressing the importance of buckling up to their peers over the past few months.

This enforcement campaign is not designed to surprise anyone.  Law enforcement is trying to raise awareness and increase motorist safety, but will be issuing citations for those who chose not to obey Kansas law.
