Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Raises Money for Special Olympics

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office proudly participated in the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Kansas this past Saturday at Crimson Villas in Pittsburg.  This is the second year for the sheriff’s office to participate.

Nine members of the sheriff’s office joined others from around the area to plunge into the cold water helping to raise awareness and funds for area athletes who benefit from Special Olympics Events and Programs.

Over $27,000.00 was raised during Saturday’s event, with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Team contributing nearly $2,100.00.

Sheriff’s Office members participating were: Shane Gibson, Noble Dobkins, Billy Charles, Brad Knight, Sami White, David Groves, Holly Franklin, Lisa Morris and Jamie Starkey.
