Sheriff's Office Adds New Features to Website

04/09/2014

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is excited to announce new features to its agency website, www.cherokeecountykssheriff.com.

Residents will find the same great user friendly features they have grown accustomed to along with new ways to engage their sheriff’s office.

One of the new features is the ability to actually communicate with those wishing to submit crime tips anonymously.

Often times in the past, the sheriff’s office would receive a tip, but have no way to contact the tipster for additional information.

Now, the tipster can submit information by phone, online or by text.  The sheriff’s office will be able to not only receive the information, but communicate with the tipster (by text and email) while they maintain anonymity.

To submit an anonymous tip by text message, residents can simply text the number 888777.  In the message portion of the text, type “Tip Cherokee” (without the quotations) followed by whatever information you want to provide.

From the website homepage, citizens can also now easily access the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office social media Facebook page, which many residents use to keep up and communicate with the sheriff’s office.

As in the past, citizens can still receive press releases, jail roster information, messages from the sheriff, and most wanted updates by email, only now they can also receive them by text message!

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office encourages all citizens to go to the website and sign up for alerts, including signing up for alerts that will be sent out any time a new sex, drug or violent offender moves into their neighborhood.

The services provided are free of charge; however, depending on your cell phone plan and carrier, standard text message rates may apply.
